Family Treasures.

Version Dec 2005    Merry Christmas and happy new year!    12/4/2005

(This web version slightly modified on Oct 18, 2008.
Please ignore references such as "this CD...".)

David Hale nh_hales@hotmail.com  603-669-2645  Please provide feedback, preforably by e-mail.

This CD includes a test MP3 recording.
The MP3 format condenses the size of audio files so more information can be placed on one CD.
Do you all have an MP3 music player installed on your computer?  If you are not sure:
  Try clicking this Christmas Medley
Let me know if you can not play this song on your computer.
(Some newer car CD players, and home CD and DVD players can play these MP3 files as well.)

When viewing the photos and documents please realize the present organization content.
Notice the "(new)" folders which were added since the last version.
Also added in the top directory is the BIRTHDATES file.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6/25/2005 - Added scans of Mom & Dad (7) posters origionaly constructed by Doris and Peg.
All pictures were removed and separately scanned.
  (Mom+Dad posters  p1-01:30  p2-01:23 p3-01:39  p4-01:35  p5-01:48  p6-01:38  p7-01:46)
  Posters were then reconstructed by ArcSoft PhotoPrinter. (p1  p2  p3  p4  p5  p6  p7)
The reconstructed posters (p1 thru p7) look reasonable when printed on 8 1/2" by 11"
  paper or photo paper.

In addition there are scans of pictures of (four) posters. (Poor picture quality.)
  (p3pic  p4pic  p5pic  p7pic)

When viewing the photos and documents please realize the present organization content.

The images can be vewied by a picture viewer program, if desired, but I suggest you keep reading...

If you are reading this document as a TXT file, I suggest exiting, then clicking on
"READ ME.HTML" and reading by a web browser, instead.

This CD includes files that can be viewed by a web browser. If you are using a web browser:

(Hopefully this should work on a Mac computer and work with Linux OS, too.)

For best resolution, in order to read letters and newsprint, click in the image (or
view directly by a picture viewer).

Remember, a web browser can save bookmarks, if you like.

I tried to organize this CD so that if you want to make a picture on a
KODAK Picture Maker, the "Origional Scans\pictures" are the easiest to access.
See "Reference Docs\KODAK Picture Maker FAQs" for more Kodak info.

=======================================================================================

(If anyone is interested in how this CD was build the "Reference Docs" folder may help.)

6/17/2005  CD03  Organized scans using folders.
Some folder attributes may be set to "hidden".
If you want to see all folders in Windows Explorer,
set Folder Options / View / Show hidden files and folders

"Origional Scans" folder has "Non-Pictures" and "All Pictures" folders.

The following scans are related to items which Sue might use in her book.
In the future there will be updates as more subjects & items are added.

These origional scans can be viewed by PC viewer like:
Win XP -  "Windows and Fax Viewer"

The origional scans can be the best choice to view text of newspapers.
Lower resolution files are contained in various \web  "slides"  folders.

With this CD, any web browser can view the pictures by clicking on the
index.html file of the "\web\" folder.

Free IBM PC compatible software is included with their web page descriptions.
These folders are under the "\PC software\" folder.

 \PC software\PC Photo resizer\ -  (visualizer_photo_resize.exe)
A handy way to reduce a group of JPG files for sending in e-mail.

 \PC software\PC Viewer\ -  (ifunview.exe)
A viewer if you would like to try but don't have one.

In case anyone wonders... This CD was largely built by JAlbum, a free program to use
on any Pc or Mac.  One requirement is that Java must be loaded.  "JAlbum is a free
tool that produces web based photo albums with index pages and slide shows from image
folders". There are MANY styles to pick from.  (Instead of uploading to a web site I
just burn all required files to a CD.)   For details, see   http://jalbum.net/

The following is a list of potential items for Sue's book and an
indication of JPG filenames / organization to date.
Scans are now placed in unique folders.  Filenames are unchanged.
